Pushkin Square (Pushkinskaya Ploshchad)

What makes it great?:  
It's an expanse with fountains and trees in the very heart of Moscow, and the people-watching is fantastic anytime of year. Virtually everyone passes through Pushkin Square at some point during the day, and it's one of the most famous meeting places in the city - you can really get a feel for Moscow life & its residents, and just hang by the fountain, stroll in the park, or risk your life with the crowds and traffic in the underpasses, roads or Metro.
What would make it better?:  
Put Tverskaya Ulitsa and the Bulvar ring underground at Pushkinskaya and make it a proper pedestrian plaza so it's not the intersection of seven different major roads and locked in traffic jams all day & night long.
