Perched at the edge of our working harbour and running north along the Pacific Ocean to Nobbys Head and its lighthouse, Nobbys Beach is a wonderful meeting and playing place for people of all ages, including families and young people celebrating life. In the summer months, the beachscape is vibrant with kite surfers, swimmers and lifesaving activities. In winter it’s a great place to watch the ships leaving the harbour as you walk along the breakwater to Nobbys Head to enjoy the salt air and wind before returning to the Pavilion kiosk for a warming coffee. This is one of our very special “Novocastrian” place experiences.

I would like to make sure that the unique Aboriginal and European heritage of the Nobbys Beach area is better revealed for everyone to understand and respect. The area has a special significance for the Aboriginal community and the landform of the place today is the result of much toil, hardship and endurance by early European convicts and settlers. The place should also be as comfortable and safe as possible for everyone to use, which includes making it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to get to the space from other places as well as ensuring that the public and commercial facilities activate the place and meet community needs. We plan to work in partnership with the community and other stakeholders in the near future to deliver these and other outcomes.
