New York High Line
When all sections are complete, the High Line will be a mile-and-a-half-long elevated park, running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen. It features an integrated landscape on top of what was once a rail line servicing the islands industrial neighbourhoods. The design combines meandering concrete pathways with a variety of relatively organic landscapes, and fixed and moveable seating.
A new book - “High Line: The Inside Story of New York City's Park in the Sky," is the first to tell the story of the project, documenting its history and the completed park in photos. Written by Friends of the High Line Co-Founders Joshua David and Robert Hammond, the book will hit the stores on October 11, 2011.http://www.npr.org/2011/09/03/140063103/the-inside-track-on-new-yorks-high-line
